AIPIA Showcases Smart Packaging Excellence for Pharma at CPHI SEA | 11-06-2025 |

AIPIA returns to CPHI South East Asia in July (16-18) with a Showcase featuring members’ expertise in Smart Packaging for the Pharmaceutical and Medical Device sectors. This year the event will be held in the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur, following its successful launch in Bangkok, Thailand. The event organisers, informa markets, plan to make it a regional exhibition covering all of South East Asia, where pharmaceutical manufacturing and distribution is increasing rapidly.
Seven members will join the Showcase this year which forms a part of the Innovation Stage, where three days of lectures on the latest issues in pharmaceutical packaging will occur. The lecture team is headed by Prof. Pierre Pienaar, past President of the World Packaging Organisation and a leading educator in both Asia and Australia. He will be joined by speakers from Sealed Air, Constantia Flexible, as well as Andrew Manly, Communications Director of AIPIA.
Participating members are:
Avery Dennison/NXP - Avery Dennison's AD Minidose inlays and tags provide reliable identification for small pharmaceutical and healthcare items such as syringes and vials. These compact (22 x 12mm) inlays utilize NXP UCODE® ICs.
HD BarCode – Enhancing Security in Pharmaceutical and Packaging Authentication: The HD MultiCode is designed to address the key vulnerabilities of public QR, DataMatrix, UPC, or EAN codes, particularly their susceptibility to reproduction and counterfeit creation.
Unipac – will showcase its range of USAFE containers with tamper evident security features.
Toppan - By integrating an NFC tag into every product, TOPPAN creates a digital identity for each item and connects it to the Internet. This provides robust Authentication, comprehensive Traceability, enhanced Patient Engagement, and other dynamic and scalable digital services tailored for the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries and their patients.
ZinCode/GS1 - High speed packaging web inspection for print quality and barcode grading for traceability. Compliance – to check if the 2D codes or text printed is of good quality and comply to GS1/ISO standards.
Securikett - PaperVOID labels and seals are made from paper which allows recycling together with paper-based, cardboard-based, or corrugated packaging, what makes them a circular-economy-friendly packaging solution. They can be fully customized in size, shape, colour and opacity.
Identiv – Leveraging the capabilities of its advanced NFC/HF, RAIN RFID (UHF) and BLE inlays, tags and labels to help the pharmaceutical and healthcare sector meet the challenges ahead
Last time the Showcase displays proved to be a very popular feature and received many ‘hits’ on the contact QRs. “Interest in Smart Packaging for pharma is high throughout the region and we expect to see many people on the Innovation Stage visiting these exhibits and attending the lectures,” said Manly.
