Coldcha launches NFC label for temperature monitoring of produce and plants

Coldcha, a Netherlands-based logistics platform provider, has introduced a paper-based NFC temperature label designed to simplify temperature monitoring during transport. This new solution is aimed at growers, fresh produce producers, food companies and flower and plant shippers seeking an affordable alternative to real-time monitoring.

The NFC temperature label is an ultra-thin, flexible paper label that can be attached to any shipment. Temperature monitoring is activated by the sender using an iPhone or Android device with a compatible application. Upon delivery, the recipient can scan the label to immediately view temperature data on their mobile device, with the information automatically uploaded to Coldcha's cloud platform. This approach enables effective temperature tracking without the need for complex hardware or costly systems, says the company.

The NFC temperature label offers a reusable and environmentally friendly solution for temperature monitoring, it claims. It is designed without a lithium battery or radio emissions, meeting air freight safety requirements. The label minimizes electronic waste and has a lifespan of over one year, making it suitable for multiple uses. This design supports sustainability efforts in the logistics sector by reducing disposable electronic components.

Coldcha's NFC label provides temperature monitoring with a deviation of ±0.5°C. It can be read contactlessly using NFC technology, compatible with most modern smartphones. The recorded data is securely stored and managed through the Coldcha platform. The label's ultra-thin design, measuring just 0.7 mm, ensuring it can be easily applied to various packaging types, it states. It is suitable for road, rail, sea, and air freight, meeting international standards.

The platform offers comprehensive tracking through both real-time and passive monitoring. It is internationally deployable, with multilingual support and easy integration into existing processes. Hardware independence allows seamless collaboration with supply chain partners, while automated data exchange enhances transparency and reduces manual communication, according to Coldcha.
