Charoen Pokphand Foods to roll out blockchain tech after success with pork and chicken

Charoen Pokphand Foods Public Company Ltd, a multinational food producer headquartered in Thailand, and with global export markets, has successfully leveraged blockchain technology into its digital food traceability system for fresh pork and chicken products.

This year the company will roll out the technology to its shrimp and cooked meat businesses to ensure the quality and hygiene of foods for consumers and customers worldwide, it says.

“Blockchain technology facilitates consumers’ rapid access to product information by scanning a QR code on the packaging. In addition to the origin of products, the consumers can also be informed about the certifications for quality and food safety standards, plus information related to sustainable production including GHG emissions.
