AIPIA, the Active & Intelligent Packaging Industry Association, is pleased to announce the date and venue for its 2017 World Congress, which will be the 6th in the highly successful series of events. The Congress will remain in Amsterdam as the location seemed to be very popular with delegates. But it will move to the Congress Centre Beurs van Berlage, which is an iconic building just opposite the Central Station. Dates are 2nd & 3rd November.

Commenting on the announcement, Eef de Ferrante, executive director of AIPIA said, “The new venue will allow us to continue the growth of the Congress, which is now established as the premier event for the whole A&IP sector and has seen a dramatic expansion in attendees in the last two years.”

The Congress will be in a new and exciting format with demonstrations, presentations and pitches in one place on the exhibition floor

As well as the usual first class Presentations and Demonstrations on the implementation and technological developments of Active & Intelligent Packaging, AIPIA is going to make the Congress even more dynamic, with a series of HACKATHONS.

The HACKATHONS will involve groups of delegates, experts, speakers and suppliers in interactive sessions where they get together as a team to brainstorm and develop a potential solution. Then we can pool the ideas to go to the next stage.

For those who don’t know: HACKATHON is a combination of Hack and Marathon, but is really a sprint where lots of people from different areas of expertise get together to focus on and come up with possible solutions to a subject.

The Beurs van Berlage is a major historic landmark in the city of Amsterdam and was the Stock and Commodity Exchange until the early 20th Century. Since then it has been transformed into a major conference and event venue with modern facilities housed in a striking piece of Dutch architecture which comprises more than 9 million bricks and is regarded as the beginning of modern Dutch building design.

“The Main Hall, which will host the 2017 Congress gives us a superb space to really integrate all the elements which have made past events such a success. We will also add some new and exciting features to keep the format fresh to offer maximum impact and value for attendees,” added de Ferrante.
